Current Lectures and Events 

  • Mysterious Michigan – Take a strange journey into the supernatural past of the Great Lakes.

  • Strange, Spooky, Wicked – This program features a little bit of everything from ghosts, legends, and monsters to true crime from Michigan.

  • “Wicked” Cemetery Tours in the Grand Haven area are seasonal. Learn about the seedy characters buried beneath Lake Forest Cemetery, Historic Grand Haven Township Cemetery, and Robinson Township Cemetery. These annual tours are free to the public through Loutit District Library.

  • A LIVE tour of “Wicked Lake Forest Cemetery” will take place on Thursday, June 13 at 6 p.m. Follow Loutit District Library to know when registration begins.

2024 Wicked Cemetery Tours in Grand Haven, MI 

In-person and virtual tours are offered throughout the year – Follow Loutit District Library on social media to learn when these happen. 

Tour Description – Learn about the seedy characters buried beneath Lake Forest Cemetery, Historic Grand Haven Township Cemetery, and Robinson Township Cemetery in Grand Haven. These tours are FREE to the public through Loutit District Library. No registration is required. Just show up early to get good parking as all of the tours are very popular. These are NOT ghost tours. Sometimes people assume they are because it’s in a cemetery, but we focus on history and true crime…although I may tell you a ghost story or two on the Lake Forest tour…

8/29/2019 – Wicked Grand Haven Township Historic Cemetery Tour – Cemetery located at 12604, Grand Haven, MI 49417.

9/12/2019 – Wicked Robinson Township Cemetery – Located at 10780 N. Cedar Dr., Grand Haven, MI 49417. This cemetery is small but has uneven ground. Please be able to stand and walk for about one hour. We use a speaker system but the nearby busy road can make it tricky to hear if you are way in the back. If you are hard of hearing, please keep to the front. There is parking inside the cemetery and along Cedar Drive. Arrive early! We did this cemetery tour in 2018 for the first time and 175 people showed up!

9/23/2019 – Farmington Community Library (Main Library) at 7:00 p.m. – Strange, Spooky, Wicked, Michigan 

10/3-4/2019 – Wicked Lake Forest Cemetery –  We have two tours this year! Thursday and Friday. The cemetery is located at 1304 Lake Ave., Grand Haven, MI 49417. This tour can take about 1.5 hours. It’s a massive cemetery with hills and uneven ground. Please be able to walk comfortably for that amount of time. Wheelchairs not recommended. Arrive early to find good parking. We get a massive turnout for this tour.

08/30/2018 – Wicked Robinson Township Cemetery Tour – 6 pm. Weather permitting. This tour is BRAND NEW for 2018! No registration required. Just show up a little before 6 p.m.

09/13/2018 – Wicked Grand Haven Township Cemetery Tour – 6 pm. Weather permitting. No registration required. Just show up a little before 6 p.m.

10/04/2018 – Wicked Lake Forest Cemetery Tour – Starts at the cemetery office at 6 pm. This is a large cemetery. The tour usually takes about 1.5-2 hours. You must be able to walk up and down hills and uneven ground. No registration required. Just show up a little before 6 p.m. A waiver must be filled out per the city of Grand Haven in case you trip and fall and are the “sue happy” type.

7/27/2017 – Exploring Michigan’s Urban Legends – Take a trip into the strange world of Michigan’s urban legends and lore with local history enthusiast Amberrose Hammond. From ghostly to cautionary, these odd, spooky, and funny tales are part of our state’s folklore and history. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Seating is first-come, first-served. This program is for ages 21 and over.
